Sustainability Profile: Noshpockets

  1. What is your company's brand promise, vision or statement of values, and how does it relate to sustainability?

  2. Noshpockets help you go green one sandwich or snack at a time. They were created to reduce the environmental impact of single use plastic bags by providing a reusable and responsible alternative to plastic baggies for sandwiches and snacks.
  3. How are your products or services environmentally and socially sustainable?

  4. A noshpocket is a reusable, environmentally friendly alternative to plastic baggies for sandwiches and snacks. Sturdy, water resistant noshpockets are made locally and can be used over and over again thus eliminating hundreds of plastic bags from our landfills.
  5. How do your suppliers create positive social and environmental benefits either through their products or through their community partnerships?

  6. The noshpocket exterior is constructed with either 100% cotton or a hemp/cotton blend depending on the style. The interior is nylon with a water resistant coating on the side that does not touch the food. This fabric is phthalate and BPA free. 100% of our supplies are sourced in Canada and over 80% are purchased right here in Calgary.
  7. How does your business minimize the environmental impact of its operations?

  8. Noshpocket headquarters receives wind powered energy via Greenmax. Our printer paper is made of 100% recycled product and all waste paper is recycled. Cleaning products used are non-toxic and biodegradable. A hybrid vehicle is used to deliver products in the Calgary area.

    Any left-over fabric is donated to Victoria's Quilts. Victoria's Quilts is a national charitable organization that makes handmade quilts to comfort people with cancer. They have a local chapter in Calgary.
  9. How does your business demonstrate ethical business conduct?

  10. Noshpockets is a small, home-based business that operates with integrity. No formal procedures are in place at this time.
  11. What strategic community partnerships does your company have in place?

  12. Noshpockets is a proud member of REAP Business Association.
  13. What policy or guidelines exist to support charitable contributions?

  14. As the owner and sole employee of noshpockets I am committed to making a difference within my immediate community and global community. I am currently on the executive of the Alberta Home Economics and Human Ecology Association - Calgary Branch, volunteer within my church and All Roads Lead Home and contribute to many charities including The Leprosy Mission, Amnesty International, World Vision and the Walk-In Closet.

    As a business, noshpockets donates 10% of its profits to the Calgary Herald Christmas Fund each year, helping to support numerous community agencies. Additionally, left-over fabric from the production of our products is donated to Victoria's Quilts - a national charitable organization that makes handmade quilts to comfort people with cancer.
