Sustainability Profile: Mingle Event Management Inc.

  1. What is your company's brand promise, vision or statement of values, and how does it relate to sustainability?

  2. Our mission is to provide sustainable event planning solutions to create a better world for future generations.

    Mingle is a vibrant, fresh thinking event company. We transform events through sustainable event management, reducing and offsetting the ecological footprint of your event.

  3. How are your products or services environmentally and socially sustainable?

  4. We're making it easier to be environmentally responsible by delivering events that help reduce and offset the ecological footprint of your celebration. We do this by working with you to set environmental priorities early in the event planning process and incorporate them into as many facets of the event as possible.

    Our Mingled Green Guidelines assist us in minimizing the Environmental impact of Your Events. This covers the areas of:
    • Venue Selection
    • Power and Water Consumption at Venues
    • Travel/Transport
    • Waste management
    • Marketing and Communication materials
    • Caterer Selection and Menu Choices
    When we Mingle your event, the ultimate aim is to make our actions sustainable – using less of everything now so that it lasts longer and choosing to use products, suppliers or procedures that have less of an impact on the planet.

    There are four basic rules we apply to every event:
    • REDUCE – use as little as possible if you do need it.
    • RE-USE – don't throw it away!
    • REPLACE – with greener options whenever possible.
    • NEUTRALISE – the carbon impact by offsetting what's left!
  5. How does your company give preference to suppliers who create positive social and environmental benefits either through their products and services or through their community partnerships?

  6. Mingle supports the Community in which we live! We have selected a number of Community partners to provide services for our events and revenue for their organizations. We work with caterers that serve local and organic food. We partner with local talent and entertainment, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent to the broader community. We believe in supporting local businesses and helping our local community thrive.
  7. How does your business minimize the environmental impact of its operations?

  8. Mingle is based out of a home office, therefore, the amount of emissions due to daily commutes are drastically reduced. Our home office is energy efficient and we have installed low-flow toilets and water efficient plumbing. We buy paper products that are made out of post-consumer recycled materials. And we recycle everything we can: bottles, glass, paper, plastic.
  9. How does your business demonstrate ethical business conduct?

  10. Mingle is a small home-based business without the need for formal, third party governance procedures. We nurture and maintain open and collaborative relationships with our Community partners and clients, encouraging ongoing feedback and transparent working relationships.
  11. What strategic community partnerships does your company have in place?

  12. Mingle is a member of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Clubs of Calgary - Chinook.

    We also have an ongoing partnership with SAIT to recruit media students to assist in video & web production. We also recruit student volunteers to assist in various event roles.

    We are a proud member of REAP Business Association.
  13. What policy or guidelines exist to support charitable contributions?

  14. We give a minimum of 2% of all profits directly to charities. Currently Mingle is involved with Add your Light Foundation to install Solar LED lights and biosand water filters in village homes in the Dominican Republic.

    Additionally, each of our events is affiliated with a charity and clients are encouraged to donate a portion of the event proceeds.
  15. How many people do you employ locally?

  16. We are a owner-operated business with one full-time employee. We also employ various contractors on a per project basis.
  17. In what ways does your business demonstrate its commitment to employee health and safety?

  18. Mingle works with contractors & event staff on a per project basis. All staff undergo an orientation/training program prior to the event.
  19. In what ways does your business demonstrate its commitment to employee development and job satisfaction?
